Covid 19 SEO Recovery strategy

Website COVID-19 SEO Recovery Strategy?

How to use SEO, search engine optimization, as a recovery strategy for your digital marketing might not be the first thing that comes to mind as you plan for the future of your business.  It is a great time to work on improving your digital marketing history shows companies that continued their marketing efforts had stronger stock market prices during recovery.

What is an SEO Recovery Strategy for COVID 19?

Each strategy for increasing visibility, conversions, and sales starts with more website traffic and should be customized for each business.  Business owners should know there are multiple ways of getting people to visit their website. Many are no different than a brick and mortar store or office.

Which of these marketing strategies are you using to recover?

  1. Print Advertising
  2. Digital Advertising
  3. Conferences and Seminars
  4. TV, Cable, and radio
  5. Cold Calling/robocalls

There are probably a few more but business owners know how they have gotten customers in the past.  The same owners will tend to depend on the same methods during and after the pandemic ends. The same marketing may not be the best.

What Marketing are You Doing During the Pandemic?

Often marketing is one of the first budgets to be cut but you might have already committed to print, radio, TV, cable or conferences in advance.  TV, radio, and cable might still be viable since most of us are stuck home without much to do. Did the advertising focus on getting customers to your store?  Call? Or visit your website? Did you change your hours and update you Google My Business, Yelp or Bing listings?

Some print like direct mail and free-standing inserts in papers may still work. As will paper ads but many people will be concerned about spending money on new windows, home improvements, dental work, and even hair cuts or beauty treatments.  Of course, those that offer home services may stand a chance of still doing business in a client’s home. Will the clients want a stranger to come into their home at this time.

Billboards and conferences are definitely not going to work.  No traffic and most conferences are canceled. Sports events won’t be of much value either since there are no sports.

Why is a Thorough Website Audit Necessary for Strategy?

You are going to work with a SEO strategist to develop a plan for recovery that will increase traffic from qualified prospects.  The strategy can’t be developed without knowing where you have been or with issues that may prevent it from being successful.

Business owners and senior executives need to track metrics.  Your metrics will not be correct or complete without a full understanding of how the website is performing.  Correcting the issues from the audit will ensure you are getting the right metrics that are actionable.

Airplane pilots don’t start a journey without first inspecting the airplane for problems.  They always use a written checklist to ensure that everything is in working order. The same is true of a cargo or cruise ship captain, surgeon, and many other professions.  You want to know your website has no problems before starting to develop a strategy for recovery.
